Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in the Robert M. Walker Building Board room where he will announce an additional COVID-19 restriction for Vicksburg.

“As a result of our daily COVID-19 cases consistently climbing to double digits, I plan on imposing an additional restriction that I believe will significantly reduce the spread of this virus in Vicksburg, Mississippi,” Flaggs said in a statement. “I want to continue to urge all Vicksburg residents to wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing when possible.”

On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 2,168 new cases of COVID-19 across the State of Mississippi, bringing the total number of statewide cases to 159,036 and total number of statewide deaths to 3,879 since the start of the pandemic in March. Vicksburg and Warren County reported an additional 19 cases Thursday, bringing the City and County total to 1,849 cases and total number of deaths to 58.
