Maysel ‘Marie’ Hope, 1943 – 2020

Maysel “Marie” Hope died Friday, July 31, 2020, at the Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

A native of Yazoo County, Mississippi, Marie had been making her home in Vicksburg since 1963. For 30 years Marie was a child care provider and for six years she provided adult care. She was a member of the Wilderness Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late William Charley and Eula Inez Green Davis, and also was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Hope; brothers William David Davis and Charles Earl Davis; and her sisters Mary Elnora Reynolds, Fannie Parker and Eula Erma Burrough.

Survivors include her two brothers Charles Wesley Davis of Forest, Mississippi, and John Harrison Davis of Terry, Mississippi, and her sister Dyruth Carver of Vicksburg.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at the Greenlawn Gardens Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be deacons of Wilderness Baptist Church including Bill Tennant and Lee Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dan and Sally Tipton, Becky and Walter Shotwell, Karleen Theobald, James and Irene Deaton, and Emmet Myers.

Memorials may be made to the Wilderness Baptist Church Building Fund or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Glenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
