MBI investigating second officer-involved shooting in Desoto County

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced another officer-involved shooting in Desoto County on Thursday. This incident follows a separate announcement released earlier by the agency.

The release by DPS states:

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer– involved shooting involving Desoto County Sheriff’s Department that occurred approximately around 2:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, near 4896 Bethel Road, in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing their investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.

Earlier on Thursday, DPS released a statement of an officer-involved shooting that occurred the day prior near Highway 302.
