McMullin signs to play football at Carson-Newman

Vicksburg native Sam McMullin has signed a football scholarship to play at Carson-Newman University.
The former St. Aloysius star made it official on Friday when he went back to his old high school to sign his scholarship, surrounded by friends and family.
“I just feel that Carson-Newman is the best place for me and they have a lot of different opportunities and plus they are near Knoxville,” McMullin said.
McMullin is a 2020 graduate of St. Aloysius where he played under head coach Michael Fields and helped the Flashes to a first round playoff appearance. He went on to play for Jones Community until he found a spot at East Central CC where he played on the offensive line during the Fall.
At East Central CC, McMullin had to work his way up the depth chart and make a name for himself which earned him the opportunity to continue playing the sport he loves.
“I’d like to thank all the people who have helped me to get where I am today,” McMullin said. “Thank you to my parents, grandparents, brothers, friends, and especially the coaches that I have had the opportunity to learn from along the way. I’d like to give a special thanks to Grant Garner and Dennis Alexander, my position coaches in college.”
