St. Aloysius softball player Maddy McSherry is heading into her senior season, where the Lady Flashes are looking to have a promising year.

McSherry had the second most hits on St. Al’s team last season, finishing with 24. She also had a .369 batting average and a .979 fielding percentage. She was selected to the VDN All-County Team, but she now has plans to do bigger things in her final year.

“I want to grow better as a player and a teammate, but I’m really excited to see where this season goes,” McSherry said.

The Lady Flashes fell short of the playoffs by one game last year, but with the help of McSherry, along with new and returning players, she is very confident that they will achieve their team goal in 2023.

“I feel like we have a very good chance, and I know it’s been said in the past, but we’ve got some really good talent this year, and we’re putting everyone in their right places,” McSherry added.

The 2023 season is the last ride for McSherry as a softball player for St. Al, as she is under the new leadership of Head Coach Mike Foley.

“I am going to make the best of it this year and have fun while doing it.”

The Flashes will begin their season in early August.
