MDOC locks down prisons statewide
The Mississippi Department of Corrections locked down all prisons statewide Monday after an incident at a Leakesville prison.
Officials say one man was killed Sunday and at least two others injured at the Mississippi Regional Correction Facility.
The inmate killed, Terrandance Dobbins, 40, was serving a life sentence for a homicide in Adams County. Names of the other injured men have not been released.
Authorities say SMCI is under control, but the lockdown remains while an investigation is under way.
The lockdown affects two state prisons, three private prisons and 15 regional jails, and is in the interest of public safety, and the safety of prison staff and inmates.
