MDWFP Offers New Apprentice License

JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is now offering an Apprentice 3-Day Sportsman License for Mississippi residents. The license fee is $7.00 and includes All Game Hunting and Fishing, Fall and Spring Turkey Hunting, and Archery/Primitive Weapon privileges. The Apprentice 3-Day Sportsman License provides an affordable opportunity to allow one to try hunting before a hunter education course is taken. Licenses may be purchased online at, by calling 1-800-5GO-HUNT, or at any of the 450 MDWFP agent locations throughout the state. An apprentice license may be issued to a resident over the age of 15 who does not have the required certificate of hunter education. An apprentice hunting license may be issued only one time and the licensee must be accompanied by a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least 21 years of age. The MDWFP also offers annual apprentice licenses for residents including the Apprentice Sportsman License, the Apprentice All Game License, and the Apprentice Small Game License.
