Melvin Ray Butler, 1956 – 2022
A Celebration of Life will be held for Melvin Ray Butler on Saturday, Sep. 24 at 11 a.m. at Kings Community Empowerment Center. Mr. Butler will lie in repose at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
Visitation will be held at C J Williams Mortuary Services on Friday, Sep. 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the family being present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death his father Lenard Butler, Sr.; four brothers, Eddie Roy Butler, Sr., Larry Eugene Butler, Charles Hughes, and Houston Harmon; and one sister, Zelia Marie Butler.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his common law wife of forty-seven years, Joyce Marie Tyler; one daughter, Erica Drayton (Clarence); one son, Melvin Ray Tyler (Jessica); six grandchildren, Delving Ray Tyler, Tyler Ray Clark, Markel Raymond Jones, Robert Alfred Ware III, Clanard Dontea Drayton, and Markevion Rayshun Jones; one great-grand, Dialen Rashun Tyler and mother, Clarice J. Butler, all of Vicksburg, MS; six brothers, Elvis Austin Butler (Veronica), Derrick Dewayne Butler, and Percy Bell all of Vicksburg, MS, Lenard Butler Jr. (Katrina), Cedric Earl Butler, both of Detroit, Michigan, Robert Clark , Texas, eight sisters, Carolyn Levorn Butler, Deborah Lynn Butler and Senobia Yvette Butler all of Vicksburg, MS, Velva Ann Gullette and Sharon Denise Butler, both of Detroit, MI; Earnestine Butler Wilson, Barbara J. Butler, and Debra Kay Clark, all of Texas; sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Butler and Lola Hughes of Vicksburg, MS; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives, including the Neals, Woods, Wardleys, Hendersons, Jacksons, Tollivers Families, and a special friend, Mr. Sam Griffin.
Melvin Ray Butler transitioned on Sep. 9, at the age of 65.
