MEMA working to get federal flood relief for 14 Mississippi counties
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency has requested a joint preliminary assessment for public assistance from FEMA.
As of March 5, preliminary damage assessments show that 717 homes have either been affected, damaged or destroyed across the state from the severe weather events and flooding that started Feb. 10, 2020.
This request includes 14 counties and is worth up to $50 million. Those counties include:
- Attala
- Carroll
- Claiborne
- Clay
- Copiah
- Grenada
- Hinds
- Holmes
- Issaquena
- Leflore
- Sharkey
- Simpson
- Warren
- Yazoo
MEMA is also working to see if individual assistance will be possible.
