Meridian PD: One child, 8, shoots another, 9, resulting in critical injury
A shooting in Meridian, Miss., has left a 9-year-old child critically wounded. Reportedly, an 8-year-old child pulled the trigger.
Meridian Police Lt. Rita Jack said that officers arrived on the scene in the 2100 block of 9th Avenue around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, WTOK reports.
The children were unattended at the time of the shooting; however, police have not released information on who owned the gun or how the children were able to access it.
The wounded child was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
The whereabouts of the 8-year-old are unknown.
