Sir Michael Gambon, who gained global fame for portraying Professor Albus Dumbledore in the “Harry Potter” series, died at the age of 82. The family made the announcement revealing he died peacefully in a hospital to pneumonia with his wife, Anne and son, Fergus, by his side.

Starting his career on stage in the early 1960s, Gambon quickly rose to prominence. His vast repertoire of roles spanned from “The Singing Detective” to “The King’s Speech” and Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr Fox.” Despite his acclaimed Dumbledore portrayal, he famously admitted to never having read any of J.K. Rowling’s original novels.

Gambon was knighted in 1998 for his significant contributions to drama. He retired in 2015 due to age-related challenges but leaves behind an indelible legacy in the world of film and theatre. Tributes have poured in from various quarters, recognizing his immense talent and contribution to the arts.
