Mike Leach hired as Mississippi State head football coach.

Mississippi State has hired Washington State’s head coach Mike Leach to replace Joe Moorhead, multiple media outlets are reporting.

Leach has been at Washington State since 2012 and has a 55-47 record as head coach for the Cougars. He was head coach at Texas Tech from 2000-2009 where he had an 84-43 record at the school. Overall, Leach has a 139-90 record as head coach.

Washington State went 6-7 this past season and lost to the Air Force 31-21 in the Cheez-It Bowl.

Leach will replace Moorhead, who was fired after MSU lost the Music City Bowl to Louisville on Dec. 30, 2019.
