Military Park to host to many painters from around the south

On Saturday, Vicksburg National Military Park will play host to several talented painters from all over the southern United States.

“Mississippi En Plein Air: A Gathering of Artists” is an event put together by the volunteer organization Mississippi Plein Air Painters (MPAP). The organization brings artists from across America together to network, collaborate, and enjoy their love of painting outdoors.

After a special tour of the park’s monumentation, several artists will be returning to select a view of the park that they wish to paint “en plein air.” So as you tour the park, you may run across a few painters during your visit. If you do, the artists invite you to step up, say hello, and ask questions about their work.
