“My grandfather started KFC in Vicksburg in 1966. We also have a Steak n’ Shake in Hattiesburg and plan on bringing Steak n’ Shake to Vicksburg this year. And of course, we just started our own brand, Miller’s,” said Rials.

Just before COVID, Miller announced his company, Delish Brands, was going to build a new KFC on the South Frontage and a Steak n Shake on 61 North. They also were going to open their own place, Miller’s food.

COVID slowed all those plans down. The KFC took almost three times longer to build because of supply chain issues.

“Before COVID we could order equipment and get it in a couple of weeks. With all the supply chain issues created by COVID, we had to wait over 6 months for a cooler,” said Miller. “It really slowed us down. It’s even worse now. It takes a year to get a cooler or a fryer. Regardless, we are still going to break ground and get that new Steak n’ Shake open by the end of the year.”

Miller’s opened earlier this year and is located in the old KFC location on Indiana Ave.

“We’ve always wanted to open a Vicksburg home-cooked meal restaurant,” said Miller. “We are housed in an old fast food building but we’re not fast food. We cook everything from scratch and with love. For example, it takes 6 to 8 minutes to cook a chicken on the grill. It’s a real home-cooked meal.”

Carley included, “We want to make sure our customers are satisfied. We are still testing menu items and seeing what works and what doesn’t. We really appreciate all the customer feedback so we can get it right! We strive for excellent customer service.”

“We hear all the time that we have the best beef tips in town,” said Miller. “On Tuesdays, we feature a boneless fried chicken breast with a cream sauce. On Friday, we have chicken parmesan over angel hair pasta with a side salad, dessert and drink for $12.99. Currently, our $12.99 plate lunches with drink and dessert are the biggest sellers and burgers are one of the top sellers.”

Regarding the nighttime menu, Miller said, “We’re going to have our regular menu but we’re going to add some items. We will have a Philly Cheesesteak, a Chicken Philly, a Patty Melt and then we will have a pasta lineup. A blackened and fried chicken alfredo over pasta noodles that come with garlic bread. We have a cajun chicken pasta that comes over penna noodles along with that garlic bread. Those pasta plates include a salad and drink for $16.99. All our sauces are homemade and we’ll have our fried chicken and catfish platters. We will also have catfish buckets with 16 to 20 fish in them to feed 6 to 8 people. We also have one of my personal favorites, catfish bites.”
