Taking her last breath on Friday, January 20, Miriam Jacobson Emerson went to be with the Lord where she was reunited with her husband, Lee Thomas Emerson and many loved ones.

As a woman of many talents, Miriam decorated for many occasions at work, church and home. She had a true gift as an artist and painter and a green thumb for gardening.

Her best talent was caring about others starting with her family and extending to a great number of friends. Miriam had an open heart and open door where any one was welcome.

Born August 30, 1946, Miriam lived most of her life in Yokena and Port Gibson. She married L. T. Emerson in 1964 and had four children: Demi Lee Emerson (Timmy Stewart), David (Donna), Kevin, and Karl (Vickie).

Along with her children, also left behind are eight grandchildren: Tavia Dewey, Sydney Case, Leah Emerson, Lauren Abernathy, Anna Emerson, Bristol Emerson, Abrina Emerson, Daria Sharp. Also there are seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many others who thought of her as an aunt or grandma.

Sandra Cooper (Jerry) and Ron Jacobson (Felicia) are Miriam’s remaining siblings.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Geraldine Jacobson and her brother Harry Jacobson.

Both Grace Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church were home to her and in the past Miriam has taught GA’s and helped with Vacation Bible School.

Having worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for years, Miriam considered her year of service on the coast helping after Hurricane Katrina as one of her most rewarding duties.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 12:00 with the service being held at 12:00 in the chapel at Glenwood Funeral.

Miriam will be laid to rest beside her husband, L.T., at Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery in Port Gibson.

Pall bearers will be Andy Wright, Shawn Spivey, Rusty Goodwin, Mark Daniels, Brent Hopkins, Steven Parman, Jody Steen and Jesse Jacobson.

Honorary pall bearers are Billy Gene and Brenda Wright, Darrell and Corrie Spivey, Charlene Goodwin, Danny and Charlotte Daniels, Buddy and Anell Parman.

Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church in Yokena.
