Miss Mississippi contestants greet fans during parade on Washington Street

The 2021 Miss Mississippi Parade was held on Washington Street in downtown Vicksburg at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Contestants in the 2021 event were escorted by police and given the chance to greet supporters and fans.

The preliminary competition is set to take place on Wednesday, June 23 at 7 p.m., with following competitions following each night until June 26.  Saturday’s competition will be at 8 p.m.

The Miss Mississippi Parade was escorted by police as they made their way down Washington Street.

39 candidates vie for the position of Miss Mississippi after a 2020 pause due to COVID-19.

Candidates greeted their fans as they were escorted.

Preliminary competitions will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Vicksburg Convention Center

Some have been waiting since 2019 to compete.

One lucky contestant will finally take the Miss Mississippi crown. The competition is to be broadcast on June 26.
