Miss Mississippi State University Emmie Perkins crowned the new Miss Mississippi

Miss Mississippi State Emmie Perkins rose to the top of the field of 31 contestants and will succeed Holly Brand as the newly crowned Miss Mississippi.

Perkins was awarded a preliminary win in the Red Carpet phase on Thursday night, and spoke with VDN’s Alex Long about the experience.

A student at MSU, Perkins aspires to be an entertainer and music producer. The talented singer uses her love of music to make a positive impact on the community with her social impact initiative ‘Music is Medicine’.

Vicksburg’s Miss Leaf River Valley Charity Lockridge finished first alternate in the competition.
