Published

Authorities from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are searching for a possible drowning victim near where Bayou Pierre connects with the Mississippi River near Grand Gulf.

Reports indicate that a boat capsized. A female occupant was able to make it to safety; however, the male occupant has not been found. The search has been called off due Friday to darkness and is scheduled to resume at daylight Saturday.

Tensas Parish Sheriff Ricky Jones says that the search zone includes areas that are in both state’s jurisdictions. The LDWF is the lead agency in the search, according to Captain Tracy Tullos of MDWFP.

The Vicksburg Daily News will provide more information as it becomes available.
