Mississippi Barbecue Company brings the blues to Vicksburg
Each weekend, downtown Vicksburg bustles with activity. Whether it’s Second Saturday, RiverFest, a ceremony or a 5K, there is always something going on in Vicksburg.
The Mississippi Barbecue Company, 717 Grove St., adds to that activity with live music every Saturday other than Second Saturday.
“It’s a part of a blues series that we’re doing every Saturday in the fall from 6 to 9,” said owner Dale Jennings. “We try to bring in out-of-town artists during the weekend, and during the week we’ll have in-town artists.”
The idea is to bring more attention to the sounds of the city.
“It’s so hot outside right now that we have to keep the artists inside, but we’re right around the corner for the 70s and 80s,” Jennings said. “This is just a historical blues town, and I think we need more places to play the blues.”
Tonight, come out to hear David Dunavent. On Oct. 19, starting at 5 p.m., the featured group will be Bill “Howl N Madd” and Shy Perry. Oct. 26, it’s The Italian Job starting at 7 p.m.
The Mississippi Barbecue Company offers the community the blues to enjoy while eating great food.
