Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper and Jackson firefighter save infant’s life

This afternoon, Sept. 19, at 3:30 p.m., a woman brought an unresponsive infant into the Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop C/Drivers License Office in Pearl.
The woman was attempting to get some help for the 6-month-old child, Easton Cooper, as he was not breathing.
There just happened to be a Jackson firefighter there at the time, Kevin Meadows. He, along with Highway Patrol Trooper Sgt. Donnell Feazell, performed CPR on the child. Feazell and Meadows then transported the infant to Merit Health Rankin on Crossgates Boulevard in Brandon in the trooper’s patrol vehicle.
The child was stabilized at Merit Health and from there was transported to Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.
“I’m not a hero, uh, just work training and all. Just thank God I was there to render aid to the baby and the baby is OK and made it OK,” Feazell told WLBT.
The Vicksburg Daily News will provide further details as we know them.
