Alcorn State University Braves were on hand Wednesday when the Mississippi House of Representatives passed a resolution honoring the football team.

The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Jeffery Harness (D-Fayette), honored the Braves for their “outstanding 2019 season and for winning the SWAC football championship.” Harness earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Alcorn, and his district includes Claiborne County.

The resolution said, in part, that “the Braves, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work, motivation and audacity, which were so apparent all through the season, for the game that ultimately separated the men from the boys to take down the competition and take home the SWAC Football Championship.”
