According to a police report Doug McLeod, 58, punched his wife in the face. He was reportedly drunk, wanted sex and became angry when his wife didn’t undress quickly enough.
The Republican Representative from Lucedale was arrested Saturday on a charge of domestic violence, a misdemeanor. According to the Sun Herald, the complaint was filed with the George County Sheriff’s Department.
Law enforcement reported McLeod was drunk and holding a glass of alcohol when they arrived. Deputies say McLeod punched his wife and bloodied her nose. When officers told McLeod a domestic assault had been reported, they say he replied: “Are you kidding me?”
McLeod is currently free on bail.
McLeod has represented George and Stone counties since 2012. He’s unopposed for re-election this year.See a typo? Report it here.
