A resolution to support completing the pumps to relieve flooding in the South Delta has passed the Mississippi legislature.

House Concurrent Resolution 9 was introduced by State Reps. Kevin Ford (R-Vicksburg), Oscar Denton (D-Vicksburg) and Scott Bounds (R-Philadelphia), and by State Sen. Briggs Hopson (R-Vicksburg).

The resolution calls for “The United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Mississippi Levee Board and the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board to take all necessary actions to complete the Yazoo Backwater Pump Project as soon as possible.”

The resolution passed the state House of Representatives by a vote of 121-1 a few weeks ago and passed unanimously in the state Senate 51-0.
