Mississippi National Guard postpones Retiree Day

Published

on

The Mississippi National Guard is dedicated to the safety of our soldiers, airmen, retirees, and veterans who have dedicated their lives to military service for our state and nation.

It is with a heavy heart that we must once again postpone the MSNG Retiree Day 2020 scheduled for July 30 at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg. The decision to postpone this cherished annual event is due to the increased threat of COVID-19 in Forrest County and the governor’s safety guidance outlined in Executive Order 1509, effective July 20 through Aug. 3, 2020.

“Safety is our highest priority. We plan to celebrate our Mississippi National Guard Retirees at a date and time in which we can ensure their safety against COVID-19 and the Mississippi summer heat,” said Maj. Gen. Janson D. Boyles, the adjutant general of Mississippi.

The MSNG is actively supporting the governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and state agencies with COVID-19 testing site locations throughout the state. The MSNG stands ready to respond to any mission in support of our state and nation to protect the citizens and the communities in which we serve.
