Delaware’s Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is helping ease overcrowded animal shelters in Mississippi.

Saturday, the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s 18th flight with Wings of Rescue took off from Starkville, Miss., around 7:30 a.m. carrying 62 dogs and puppies from shelters in Mississippi, reports WBOC.

Arriving in Delaware just past 11 a.m., the dogs were greeted by a team of BVSPCA volunteers.

David Owens, BVSPCA shelter and programs manager, told WBOC that his organization was ready to make room for the pups in Delaware. “Not enough spay and neuter resources there, so we’re just definitely helping out with providing them with shelter here and getting them into homes,” he said.

Owens added that the dogs should be adoptable starting Tuesday.
