Missy Gators are headed to the third round of the playoffs
Vicksburg High School girl’s soccer team is headed to the third round of the playoffs after defeating Columbus 5-0 on Monday.
“It feels good to come out with a big win and our goal is to keep that momentum going into the next game,” VHS Head Coach Samantha Bailey said. We’re going to either play Neshoba or Saltillo next, and Satillo put us out last year so it will be nice to see them again.”
Amari Johnson dominated for the Missy Gators with three goals followed by Midori Allen and Trinity McGloster who each had one.
VHS came out strong and continued to control the game all night especially on defense where they managed to not give up a goal. The second half consisted of the Missy Gators staying on top and playing at full speed until the victory was secured.
Tonight’s win was the Missy Gators’ first playoff victory since 2010.
“Hopefully tonight we’ll have a score from the other game so we will know who we’ll play, and we’re going to keep working hard for the rest of the week,” Bailey said.
