The Vicksburg High School (VHS) Missy Gators softball team put up a strong fight against the Pearl Pirates Thursday, but ultimately fell just short of a win.

On Thursday, fans gathered to cheer on the two high school teams at the VHS home game.

VHS softball pitcher Lexi Kistler pitched for most of the game, striking out 13 batters and allowing 13 hits, while Sha’Niya Lockridge gave VHS four hits, along with four RBIs and two run scores.

The rest of the team went all-in to get a piece of the action as well.  Kellisia Walker contributed three run scores, with Lockridge and Vijae Flaggs nudging the team up with two points.

Unfortunately, even with Madelyn McAdam, Mykia Adams and Kistler each adding a point to the board, they fell just short of a win, ending the game with a score of 14-13.

The Missy Gators will now travel to Franklin County Friday, where junior varsity is set to begin at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:15 p.m.
