The Vicksburg High School girls basketball team destroyed Callaway High School Tuesday night in a 57-33 win.

Sophomore Layla Carter led the Missy Gators in points, finishing with 16 on the night. Teammate Ja’Na Colenburg also stepped up big for the Gators, putting up 12 points.

By the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Gators had a 46-20 lead, and they put the game out of reach for the Callaway Chargers. Shakora Knight scored 8 points to contribute to the win, and Janiah Caples finished with 6 points.

Currently on a three-game winning streak, the Missy Gators are starting to get back on track. They now have a 9-5 record under head coach Troy Stewart. Many of the team’s key players are sophomores and juniors.

The Missy Gators will be back in action Friday when they travel to play Ridgeland High at 6 p.m.
