“To win four district championships in a row is very hard to do but it’s major and it’s only up from here,” VHS player Kierra James said.

With Janiah Caples stepping up early in the first quarter along with some help from Cynia Johnson and Jelisa Tyler, the Missy Gators were able to tie the game at 12-12 in the first quarter. James took over the second quarter for VHS by scoring multiple points as they took a 24-22 halftime lead.

A. Blanson continued to lead the way for Callaway while VHS continued to share the ball with a combination of Caples and Layla Carter who both knocked down buckets to push the Missy Gators up 35-32 heading into the final quarter.

The game became sweeter in the fourth quarter for VHS as Ja’Na Colenburg did what she does best when she popped two 3-pointers. Caples managed to not be slowed down by getting some tough shots off while Carter snuck in to add a few points that eventually helped the Missy Gators earn another District Championship under Head Coach Troy Stewart.

James led with 20 points and nine rebounds while Caples pitched in 13 with seven rebounds. Carter and Colenburg both had six points each and Tyler came away with five on the board. Cynia Johnson finished with three points.

VHS is 25-5 on the year and are preparing themselves for another deep run in the playoffs.
