Mistrial declared in fraud trial of former Rolling Fork mayor
The fraud trial of former Rolling Fork Mayor Eldridge “Butch” Walker has ended in a mistrial.
The Mississippi Attorney General’s office indicted Walker in 2015 for defrauding the Federal Home Loan Bank for $5,800 in unnecessary repairs to a home and conspiring with others to get paid.
Co-conspirators Marlene Williams and Kayla Lindsay, nonprofit administrators, according the Associated Press, pleaded guilty to making false statements to the bank.
This isn’t the first time Walker was brought up on fraud charges. He was also indicted in 2014, but those charges were dismissed.
The AG’s office said it would re-evaluate its case.
