Mom charged with manslaughter in death of child
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace has reported that investigators in his office arrested 30-year-old Warren County resident Brandi Christine Reynolds July 23, and have charged her with culpable negligence manslaughter in the death of her infant daughter.
On July 19 at about 5 a.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an infant’s death at Ms. Reynold’s home in the Oak Ridge community. When investigators arrived, they found the 54-day-old female child deceased in the mother’s bed.
The child’s twin brother died on June 19, under similar circumstances. Another of Reynold’s infants died under similar circumstances in 2016.
Pace said that “…sleeping with an infant can result in the adult inadvertently rolling on to the infant resulting in the death or serious injury of the child.”
Reynold’s other two children died in Newton County, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services as this investigation continues.
Reynolds had her initial appearance before Justice Court Judge James Jefferson today and he set her bail at $250,000. This case will be presented to the Warren County Grand Jury during its August term.
