Monsour Makes Residency by One Day

The Municipal Republican Executive Committee has said Alex Monsour is a resident of the South Ward.
According to documents presented to City Clerk, Walter Osborne, the three person partisan committee has sided with their only candidate in the South Ward. The question centers around a challenge about where Monsour actually lives. The current South Ward representative, Willis Thompson, a long time resident of the South Ward, believes Monsour failed to meet the residency requirements. The law states a person must meet several criteria to run for municipal office, but primarily they must be a resident of the Ward they wish to represent for at least 30 days.
According to Monsour, he made the residency requirement by one day. He claims to have signed a lease on a residence at 3550 Porters Chapel Road on January 30. A claim that seems to be supported by the Republican committee. Original reports have him putting that date at January 29th, a Sunday. However, Monsour states he did not stay at the Porters Chapel location until last night because of mold issues that arose from a leaky roof.
Monsour has claimed three addresses in the past year. The first, 109 Plantation Drive seems to be the primary location for the past year. He also voted at the Culkin Precinct in the 2016 Presidential race, which is the proper precinct for 109 Plantation Drive. Monsour then moved to the Park Residences on the I-20 Frontage Road according to amended papers filed with the City Clerk March 3rd. And, as of last night, Monsour spent the night at 3550 Porters Chapel.
