COVID-19
More than half of COVID-19 cases in Mississippi have presumably recovered
On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health started reporting the estimated number of COVID-19 cases that have presumably recovered.
The number, 3,413, represents a little more than half of the cumulative total of cases in the state or 52%. As of Wednesday morning, the cumulative total was 6,569.
MSDH is including the following in its estimate:
- Those who tested positive for the virus and were not hospitalized after 14 days.
- Those who tested positive and were hospitalized (or hospitalization is unknown) after 21 days.
Cases under investigation are not included in the figure, and MSDH has not provided any breakdown for counties or demographics such as age, race or gender.
The MSDH website states that the number presumed recovered will be updated weekly.
