Statement from Madison PD about Officer Jimmy Brooks

It is with deep regret that the Madison Police Department announces the death of one its police officers as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident at approximately 6:40 A.M. this morning. PFC Jimmy Brooks, Sr. was a veteran officer with 10 ½ years of service with the Madison Police Department.  Officer Brooks had a total of 31 ½ years of law enforcement experience.  His prior service included 21 years with the City of Vicksburg Police Department, retiring as the Chief of Police in 1992. PFC Brooks was enroute to work on his personal motorcycle at the time of the accident.  He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The accident is currently under investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. Our thoughts, prayers and support are with the Brooks family at this time of loss.
