MS Highway Patrol begins holiday enforcement period Thursday

The Mississippi Highway Patrol begins its “Home for the Holidays” enforcement period Thursday starting at 12:01 a.m.

For the next several days, expect to see more troopers on all state, federal and interstate roads to combat reckless driving along with speeding and distracted driving issues. The safety initiative places emphasis on traffic safety for motorists traveling throughout the holiday season.

If you plan to celebrate with alcohol, MHP strongly urges designating a sober driver or planning alternative transportation.

The enforcement period ends Sunday, Jan. 3, at midnight.
