MSDH to begin releasing names of long-term care facilities with COVID-19 cases

The Mississippi Department of Health will be releasing the names of long-term care facilities  with COVID-19 cases under investigation beginning Wednesday.

The information will be posted on the MSDH website along with other information about the virus and will be updated daily, WAPT reports.

MSDH will not release any other information about the facilities or provide a breakdown of cases at this time.

Pine Belt News in Hattiesburg filed a lawsuit against the agency May 12 saying it was not responding to requests for the names of long-term care facilities in Forrest County.

A Hinds County Judge ruled May 26 that MSDH must either provide the information within the seven days allowed under Mississippi law or cite the lawful exemption for withholding it.
