MSU crushed Arkansas State 16-2



Story from MSU Athletics:
 – The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs defeated the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the midweek affair by a score of 16-2. The Dawgs collected a season-high 16 runs on 18 hits in the win.

The Bulldogs’ (14-8) hitting was on display as five players had two or more RBIs and had at two or more hits. Colton Ledbetter shined again, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs. He also tacked on a two-run shot to center in the fourth, his fifth on the season. Luke Hancock and Hunter Hines also had impressive days from the plate, having three RBIs each.

Bradley Loftin drew the start for State today and put in five innings of work. He only allowed three hits and no earned runs en route to the win over the Red Wolves. Loftin also added nine strikeouts. Cole Cheathamand Logan Forsythe closed the ballgame with three strikeouts and no earned runs.

The Diamond Dawgs are back in action Friday to continue the nine-game homestand when they host Vanderbilt. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. on the SECN+.

With runners on first and second, Hunter Hines singled through the right side, which scored Amani Larry. Kellum Clark doubled to center with the bases loaded, which scored Colton Ledbetter and Hines, and then Aaron Downs scored on a groundout from Luke Hancock.

With runners on first and second, Ledbetter singled to left, scoring David Mershon. Hines hit a sacrifice fly to deep center, which scored Larry. Downs singled between short and third, scoring Ledbetter. Dakota Jordan hit a sac fly to deep left that scored Downs, and then Clark scored on an error.

Ledbetter doubled to left, which scored Larry from second. Hines then singled to center that scored Ledbetter. With runners on second and third, Jordan hit a sac fly to deep left, which scored Hines, then Downs scored on an error.

Ledbetter hit a home run to right that scored Mershon.
