Multi-agency chase ends on 61 North
A pursuit along Interstate 20 led to two individuals being taken into custody Tuesday evening after one vehicle hit another and came to a stop along an exit ramp.
Around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, a white Dodge Charger was observed tailgating an 18-wheeler in the westbound lane of Interstate 20. A deputy with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department attempted to make the traffic stop.
The Charger increased its speed, attempting to evade the officer. “The vehicle sped up and was failing to yield to lights and siren of the Sheriff’s Department patrol car,” stated Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.
Pace went on to state the Mississippi Highway Patrol joined the pursuit after a couple of miles. As the Charger was attempting to take the Highway 61 exit, it hit the rear end of a pickup truck and came to a stop on the exit ramp.

Two adults were taken into custody shortly after. “We currently have two adults in custody. We’re towing the vehicle. We’re going to obtain a search warrant to search the vehicle,” Pace said at the scene.

One firearm was present in the vehicle in plain sight. It was unknown if that weapon was stolen.
According to Pace, no one was injured during the event. “We had paramedics here just as a precaution to check out all the individuals. Everyone has said they were fine. I don’t believe there’s going to be any injuries at all.”
The ramp was temporarily closed while tow trucks cleared the ramp.
