Multiple arrests made in recent drive by shooting cases

The Vicksburg Police Department announced the arrests of several individuals involved in recent drive by shooting incidents.

61 S near Iowa

Derrius Demond Darden, 19, was arrested and charged with drive by shooting on Sunday, Mar. 26.

While traveling on Highway 61 South near Iowa Boulevard, two vehicles exchanged gunfire, with Darden being one of the occupants in a vehicle who fired multiple shots at another occupied vehicle. Darden was apprehended following a foot pursuit with responding Officers.

Darden was arraigned by Municipal Court Judge, Penny Lawson, who set Darden’s bond at $50,000.

Darden was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury. Further arrest are pending.

South Street and First North Street

Samuel Caron Smith, 21, and Steven Lamont Jones, Jr, 19, was arrested and charged with Drive By Shooting on Monday, Mar. 27.

On Saturday, Mar. 25, officers responded to the area of South Street and First North Street. Multiple shell casings and other evidence was recovered from the scene.

Smith and Jones were arraigned by the Municipal Court Judge, Angela Carpenter, who set each of their bonds at $250,000. Each case will bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury. Further arrests are pending.
