Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods and his deputies transported murder suspect Darion Hill from Dallas, Texas, today back to Port Gibson to face justice.

Hill, 31, is suspected of kidnapping and murdering Quawanda Hicks, 21. They were last seen together Dec. 19, 2019, and had a history of domestic disputes.

A week later, Hicks’ body, riddled with multiple gunshot wounds, was found in a ditch by men riding four-wheelers on Dec. 26.

Sheriff Edward Goods credited his deputies and U.S. Marshals for their dogged pursuit of Hill, who turned himself in to Dallas Police early this morning.

Quawanda Hicks’ body was found Dec 26. She had been shot multiple times.

“I simply thank each and every one of you for the long nights and early mornings,” Goods said.

The sheriff and his deputies left Mississippi around 5 a.m. Tuesday to bring Hill in, arriving back in Port Gibson around 8 p.m.

During the interview an earnest Sheriff Goods declared “It’s a new day in Claiborne County.”
