Nancy Lynn Katzenmeyer, 1955 – 2023
Nancy Lynn Katzenmeyer was born in Vicksburg on May 10, 1955, the daughter of Hardy A. Katzenmeyer and Sandra A. Melsheimer. Nancy passed at River Region Merit Health Hospital on June 27th, 2023, as a result of kidney and liver disease.
Nancy attended Saint Francis Xavier Academy, Bowmar Avenue Elementary School and in the later part of her early education completed a secretarial course. She was a sensitive loving person and her mission in life was to serve others. To this end when she found her first job as a server in a restaurant, she knew she had found her life’s work. She worked tirelessly, sometimes three jobs at the same time and enjoyed every moment of serving others. Upon moving to Pennsylvania, she continued to work in the food service business. She was hired as general manager of a Pennsylvania Resort Lodge and worked there until the owners retired after a number of years. She was then hired as manager of a restaurant in a small Pennsylvania Township and after about two years it was sold. She returned to Vicksburg and went to work at Cracker Barrel from the day it opened until her health began to fail. During her tenure at Cracker Barrel she served in just about every position available but returned to serving where she thrived with her own clientele of customers, doing the work she loved. Her health broke while she was at work at Cracker Barrel, and she insisted on completing the service to her customers before leaving the job for the hospital. While working at Cracker Barrel Nancy had purchased her own place in the county and had completely paid for it, an accomplishment she was extremely proud of. All who knew Nancy for who she really was loved her, appreciated her and will dearly miss her.
Nancy was predeceased in February of this year by her brother and rival Mark Katzenmeyer whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her mother Sandra A. Melsheimer, Vicksburg, father Hardy A. Katzenmeyer, Vicksburg; three brothers: Fred (Barbara), Mike (Shelia) and Luke Katzenmeyer (Leanne) all of Vicksburg; sisters, Becki (Les) Ferguson of Oxford, Mississippi; two grandchildren: Maxwell and Sam Doyen; two lifelong friends: Sheryl Broadwater and Jerry Renfroe.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, a Cedar Hill Cemetery.
