Natchez man sentenced for killing two Alcorn State students

A Natchez man took a guilty plea in the 2020 shooting deaths of two Alcorn State University students.

Jerrell Davis plead guilty to two counts of “Imperfect Self-Defense Manslaughter.” He was sentenced Judge Tomika Irving to 20 years with 15 to serve for both counts which will run concurrently. Davis will also be credited for time served.

Feb. 2020, 19-year-old James Carr and 22-year-old Tahir Fitzhugh were shot at a bonfire about 13 miles from campus in Claiborne County. They both eventually died from their injuries.
