Nathan Harms of ERDC receives prestigious IOBC NRS Early Career Scientist Award


Nathan Harms, a research biologist from ERDC’s Environmental Lab, was recently celebrated with the International Organization for Biological Control Nearctic Regional Section (IOBC NRS) Early Career Scientist Award. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon individuals who have shown exemplary contributions to the realm of biological control within a decade of obtaining their PhD.
Throughout his career, Harms has made noteworthy advancements in the field, leading biological control programs targeting 10 aquatic and one terrestrial weeds both in the U.S. and internationally. Moreover, his leadership skills have been evident as he assembled multidisciplinary teams to confront major challenges posed by invasive species. These teams under his guidance have worked diligently to enhance the procedures and outcomes of biological control.
This award acknowledges those who have demonstrated significant strides in biological control through various channels including research, teaching, and extension/outreach.
