National and state pageants postponed until 2021

The Miss Mississippi pageant executive board voted unanimously last night to postpone pageants until 2021, Miss Mississippi pageant Executive Director David Blackledge confirmed Friday. Included in the announcement are the Miss Mississippi and the Mississippi Outstanding Teen pageants.

The news comes on the heels of the Miss America Organization postponing the national competition until the fourth quarter of 2021.

“The health and well-being of our contestants, their families, and all the attendees and people it takes to present the pageant is our paramount concern,” Blackledge said. “I commend the national board for taking this bold action.”

For many in Mississippi and especially those in the Vicksburg area, it may feel strange to not have a pageant to be involved in for the first time in 37 years.

The Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen Pageant has been rescheduled for April 23 through April 25, 2021.

The Miss Mississippi Pageant has been rescheduled for June 23 through June 26, 2021.

No specific date for the Mississippi America pageant has been provided.
