The Jackson office of the National Weather Service has confirmed eight tornadoes across the state Sunday.
They are working in conjunction with local emergency management officials and the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency to determine storm paths and conduct damage assessment. MEMA is making extensive usage of their expanded drone team to assist in these efforts.
Members of the team were in Yazoo County shortly after Sunday’s storms and were able to assist officials on the ground with needed information on damage locations. Damage assessments will continue across the state throughout this week. Extensive damage has been documented in Lee County and Tupelo area.
