New fire trucks and more on the way for the city of Vicksburg

On Friday morning, the Mayor and Aldermen approved the purchase of two new fire trucks from Sunbelt E-One in the amount of $1,107,113.
The approval also includes the costs of two custom built pumpers and the related necessary equipment for fire suppression.
The trucks will be delivered sometime in 2022. The department also has a new rescue vehicle currently under construction by Ferrara Fire Apparatus that is scheduled to be delivered this summer.
Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said “We now have board approval to purchase 2 Custom Pumpers and replace older 1993 & 2000 pumpers. These new fire trucks will have a larger 1,000 gallon water tank (750 was the standard on older equipment), and will help us in years to come in our next fire rating appraisal. In October 2018 the Vicksburg Fire Department reached a milestone by lowering our Fire Insurance Classification to Class 4. Hopefully we will reach Class 3 in the next 3 years with our water system improvements and fire equipment upgrades. This is a great day for residents of Vicksburg.”
