New Main shooting victim’s injuries not life threatening; VPD reports two auto burglaries


The Vicksburg Police Department has released a few new details regarding a shooting that occurred at the New Main Apartments on Alcorn Drive Feb. 12
Officers responded to a call of shots fired around 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, A few minutes later, police were notified that a gunshot victim, an 18-year old male, was at the Merit Health River Region.
The victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
At this time, no arrests have been made in the case.
Also on Wednesday, officers responded to two auto burglaries in Vicksburg. In both cases, the vehicles had been left unlocked.
The first call came in at 6:32 a.m. from a residence in the 200 block of Buena Vista Drive. The victim reported that someone entered a Kia Sedona and took a wallet that contained four social security cards.
The second call, at 8:41 a.m., was in the 600 block of Locust Street. The complainant stated that someone went into a 2019 Dodge Charger and stole a wallet containing $75 cash, debit cards and a collection of coins.
