New MSDH report shows over 10,000 Mississippi students in quarantine

Over 10,000 Mississippi students are in quarantine across the state of Mississippi, according to a weekly report released by the Mississippi Department of Health. The total represents reported positive and quarantined students for  Sep. 6 – Sep. 10. As of Sep. 14, at 9 a.m., 799 schools in 75 counties have reported.

A total of 74 new outbreaks were reported across the state this week. In total, 271 teachers and staff and 1,885  students tested positive for COVID-19 during Sept. 6 through Sept. 10.

Since the beginning of August, 4,107 teachers and staff have contracted the virus. Through the report’s date range, 350 teachers and staff members were in quarantine, along with 10,209 students. Since the beginning of August, 20,635 students across the state have tested positive for the virus.

According to the report released by the MSDH, Warren County has experienced positive COVID cases at the following schools:

  • Academy of Innovation
  • River City Early College
  • Sherman Avenue Elementary
  • Vicksburg Intermediate School
  • Vicksburg High School
  • Vicksburg Junior High School
  • Warrenton Elementary
