Many concerned parents and guardians have become aware of a situation at Vicksburg High School which placed the facility on “soft-lockdown” Wednesday morning. The administration confirmed there is no active shooter on its campus.

The incident was initially reported to have stemmed from a possible gun presence on campus. Just days prior to this incident, a 28-year-old individual from Nashville had fatally shot three children and three adults at a private Christian elementary school.

In wake of recent events, social media rumors about the situation at the school have escalated to where some have been reporting an active shooter.

Christi Kilroy, spokesperson for the Vicksburg-Warren School District issued this statement:

“The Vicksburg Police Department notified us that an anonymous threat had been made online against Vicksburg High School. The VPD and the District School Resource officers are on site providing additional security on campus. The school is on soft-lockdown (students remain inside, however can move within the school) at this time. Everyone is safe and we will keep you informed of any other developments.”
