No signs of foul play in accused pedophile’s death
Earlier today the Vicksburg Daily News reported that accused pedophile Marshall Smith, 81, was found dead at his Warren County residence.
Warren County Deputy Coroner, Ronald C. Regan, retrieved Smith’s body from his home this morning.
“There was nothing out of the ordinary at that scene. He did have some pretty serious health issues. The body has been sent to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy,” Regan reported to the Vicksburg Daily News. “We haven’t ruled out any extraordinary means of death, but there was nothing apparent.”
Smith was arrested last week after an investigation by Sergeant Stacy Rollinson, Detective Todd Dykes and Investigator Zac Primeaux. The results of that investigation led to Smith being charged with one count of the sexual battery of a child under the age of 16. Another Warren County resident, Shell Hagan, 18, was arrested soon thereafter and charged with being an accessory before the fact on that case. Hagan, according to Sheriff Martin Pace, befriended the victim and then transported them to Smith where the sexual battery occurred.
District Attorney Ricky Smith reported to the Vicksburg Daily News that the adjudication process in the case will be closed for Smith’s part of the action. Any others involved in the case could still be prosecuted.
